Keto meal recipes: compare salmon, lettuce wraps and a tofu skillet
Searching for keto meal recipes can lead to dishes with very different carbohydrate amounts. A lettuce wrapper does not settle the question, and a tofu pan is not automatically interchangeable with a fish fillet. These three linked cards make the ingredients visible so you can judge the meal against your own requirements. This is a cooking comparison, not a prescribed ketogenic diet or a promise of ketosis.
Lemon-and-garlic salmon: keep the seasoning visible
Four fillets bake with olive oil, garlic, dried herbs and lemon. The useful technique is simple: keep the fillets in one layer and check the thickest part rather than judging doneness by color alone. The card uses 145 °F / 63 °C as the fish temperature check. Lemon slices served with the fish can be removed, but juice and garlic still remain in the dish.

Chicken lettuce wraps: portion the whole filling
Ground chicken, mushrooms and onion cook before they go into lettuce leaves. Keep the filling flavorful with ginger, garlic, soy and unseasoned rice vinegar. The card makes two portions; dividing by the number of leaves alone can hide an uneven share of the filling. Ground chicken needs a thermometer check of at least 165 °F / 74 °C, or a higher temperature if the package requires it.

Tofu and vegetables: the higher-carbohydrate option here
Firm tofu, pepper, mushrooms, onion and sprouts bring a different texture from the wraps. Cook the sprouts thoroughly, not as a raw finishing garnish. The modeled half-pan contains about 18 g total carbohydrate, which may use too much of a restrictive carbohydrate allowance. Treat this as a comparison option, not a universal keto recommendation.

What the comparison actually counts
These are approximate total-carbohydrate comparisons, not laboratory results or “net carb” figures. Fiber has not been subtracted. The model uses USDA FoodData Central values for raw edible ingredients, the FDA mushroom table and representative chicken and unseasoned-vinegar labels. Product labels are rounded; varieties and actual weights vary.
For the two-serving wraps, the model uses the card’s 300 g chicken and 100 g mushrooms, plus assumed edible weights of 55 g onion, 120 g romaine for the eight leaves, 16 g soy sauce, 2 g ginger and 3 g garlic. Unseasoned rice vinegar, water and oil complete the card. Their carbohydrate contribution is treated as zero in this label-based model. The batch comes to approximately 15 g total carbohydrate, or about 7–8 g per half. Weigh your actual leaves and onion rather than treating those piece weights as universal.
For the two-serving tofu stir-fry, the model uses 200 g firm tofu, an assumed 148 g red pepper, 168 g mushrooms, 70 g onion, 64 g soy sauce and the card’s 100 g mung bean sprouts. Oil contributes no carbohydrate. The batch comes to approximately 36 g total carbohydrate, or about 18 g per half. No rice or other side is included. Changing the tofu, sauce or vegetable weights changes this estimate.
NOAA lists plain raw Atlantic salmon at zero carbohydrate, but that does not make the complete lemon-and-garlic recipe a zero-carbohydrate meal. Garlic, lemon and herbs still count. A complete figure is not supplied here because the amount of lemon actually eaten and the unspecified seasoning weights are not fixed.
Choose the whole plate
Rice, bread, sweet chili sauce and extra vegetables must be counted separately. Check soy sauce for wheat if that matters, and remember that tofu and soy sauce contain soy. None of these cards establishes an entire day’s food intake or an individual dietary treatment. Choose the recipe for its method and ingredients, then assess the actual portion and accompaniments.
