Peach dump cake with canned peaches

Peach dump cake is assembled in the baking dish rather than mixed into a smooth batter. The fruit and some of its syrup sit underneath a dry cake-mix layer and melted butter.

This is Del Monte’s canned-peach version. Use peaches in heavy syrup: draining every can or replacing all the syrup with plain water changes the specified formula.

Serve plain, or add ice cream separately if wanted. This is a spoonable fruit dessert with a cake-like top, not a firm layer cake meant to lift out in clean squares. Check cake-mix labels for allergens.

Ingrediënten

12 porties

Stap 1

Heat the oven to 350°F. Use a 13× 9-inch or another shallow 3-quart baking dish.

Stap 2

Pour two cans of peaches into the dish with their syrup. Drain the third can and add its fruit only. Spread evenly.

Stap 3

Distribute the dry cake mix over the peaches. Drizzle melted butter across the surface, reaching the corners as evenly as possible. Do not stir into a batter.

Stap 4

Bake about 55–60 minutes, until the fruit bubbles and the top is deeply golden. Let the bubbling settle before spooning into bowls.
