Phone calls with your project AI assistant

Connect a phone line to a Sensever project so its AI assistant can answer calls. The usual setup is a separate SIP extension on your PBX or cloud phone system. Your PBX decides which incoming calls reach that extension; Sensever signs in to it and handles the conversation. You need to own or administer the project and have the PBX server address, extension login and password.

Connect the phone system

  1. Open your project on sensever.com. Turn on its built-in AI assistant in Assistant, and set its character and knowledge sources there.

  2. Create a dedicated SIP extension for the assistant in your PBX. Route the desired number, queue, menu option or opening hours to that extension in the PBX.

  3. On the project page open Telephony → Connect PBX. Enter the PBX server, extension login and password. Choose the transport and port specified by your PBX: the defaults are UDP and 5060; TLS normally uses 5061. Give the connection a name so you can recognise it later.

  4. Save the connection. Sensever starts registering the extension. Open its card to see the state, then use Check connection. If registration fails, check the server, port, transport, login and password. An extension already registered elsewhere or a PBX inaccessible from the internet also prevents connection.

The optional authorization login, realm and outbound proxy are needed only when your PBX requires them. The password is stored encrypted and is shown as a mask after saving. Changing the connection does not change your PBX routing rules.

Configure the assistant's calls

Open Telephony → Call settings for the project. Choose the project assistant, a voice and language, then write a short greeting and phone-specific instructions. These instructions supplement the assistant's character and knowledge in Assistant. Set the maximum call length, the time before it asks a silent caller to respond, and the time before it ends a silent call. The latter must be longer than the former. You can also enter a phone number or extension for transfer to a person.

Link the call settings to the connection. A phone number shown as Caller ID does not prove the caller's identity. Give callers access only to public information until they have completed one of the verification methods configured for this call. If your project has eligible connectors, review each phone tool's access level before enabling it.

For outbound calls, enable them in the call settings, list the permitted country or number prefixes such as +7 and set a daily minute limit. The PBX must separately allow this extension to place external calls. Ordinary outbound calls use your telephony tariff.

Test and use it

On the connection card choose Inbound test, then call the number routed to the extension during the displayed waiting period. Use Outbound test to call a number you can answer. These connection tests are free in Sensever, last up to one minute and are limited to 10 per connection per day. Check that audio works both ways; if only one side can hear, check the PBX's NAT and RTP settings.

For a specific outbound conversation, add a Scenario on the project page. Give it a name, first phrase and instructions, then choose the connection, enter a number with a country code and start the call. A scenario changes the greeting and task for that call; the assistant's voice, tools, permissions and limits still come from the call settings. You can also select a scenario for a one-minute outbound conversation test. Regular outbound calls are billed under the telephony tariff.

History of calls shows the status and details of each call. Open a call to read its transcript and, when available, play its recording. If a call fails, note its SIP code and the connection state before changing the PBX or assistant settings.

Developers can find the current routes and request examples in Telephony API: connections, scenarios and calls.
