Fagerhult sets new industry standard: switching to the latest LED technology

Fagerhult is setting a new standard in the lighting industry and switching to the latest LED technology in its luminaires. One outcome of this is that the operating time is being doubled from 50,000 to 100,000 hours. “We want to make it easy for our customers to make the right choice, both for their wallet and for the environment,” says Marcus Fagerlind, Technical Manager for Smart Lighting at Fagerhult.

Smart reuse of 600 luminaires in Smedjan parking garage

When upgrading the lighting in Smedjan parking garage in Jönköping, Sweden, the property owner chose to invest in reuse instead of buying new – and the solution was Fagerhult ReLight. By reusing 618 customised luminaire frames, the climate impact could be reduced by as much as 6.3 tonnes of CO₂e compared to newly purchased materials.

World of Volvo lights up Gothenburg – go behind the scenes in planning

When World of Volvo opened its doors in April 2024, it marked the culmination of an extensive and unique lighting project that started back in 2019. The primary construction material of the 22,000 square metre building is wood – and its rounded, organic geometry and advanced design challenge traditional architectural norms. Through close collaboration with Granitor and Vinnergi, Fagerhult has played an important role in bringing the innovative building to life, which is now a bright landmark…

The flexible office – the innovative lighting design of the future

The office is a place in constant change, and regardless of how the design, furnishing, and operations look, lighting is an important part of the work environment. However, the path to good light can be winding and inefficient, and many factors must align throughout the construction process through property owners, interior designers, and lighting planning.

Less light, smarter control, and more eco-friendly

Outdoor lighting can affect animal species and humans in different ways, and the sum of the negative effects of artificial light is defined as light pollution. Annika Jägerbrand is Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in Biology at the University of Gävle, and her work involves showing a clearer connection between outdoor lighting use and reduced ecological effects.

How to put human centric lighting into practice

Do you have neck and shoulder pain? It could be caused by bad lighting. Up to 40 percent of the population is sensitive for visual stimuli like glare. ”To improve health, reduce eyestrain, headache and musculoskeletal strain – such as neck and shoulder pain – the visual environment needs to be glare free, flicker free (including temporal light modulation) and have enough illuminance to perform the work task”, says Hillevi Hemphälä, one of the world's leading researchers in visual ergonomics.
